1 Year Courses - Society, Health and Development

Higher Diploma

The Diploma in Society, Health and Development aims to capture the spirit of the four sectors:

  • Children and young people
  • Community justice
  • Health
  • Social care

The Principal Learning component is based on a case study/scenario approach to contextualise delivery and imaginatively engage learners.

The Principal Learning provides an overarching understanding of the four sectors and how they work together.

The concept of the seven core themes.

There are seven core themes running through the course:

  • The sectors
  • Principles and values of the sectors
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Partnership working
  • Health and safety
  • Healthy living
  • Growth and development

Qualification

The level 2 diploma in Society, Health and Development is the equivalent of seven GCSE’s grade A* - C.

Entry requirement

At least 4 GCSE Grades D (including English at Grade D or above) and a commitment to this vocational area.
