1 Year Courses - Science

BTEC Level 2

The course offers the opportunity to develop practical and research skills, knowledge and understanding in the three sciences. If you enjoy science but have not achieved the grades to progress onto advanced courses then you should consider this course. You must be organized, motivated, have good research skills and be able to keep to deadlines.

Examination / Assessment

There are no exams. The course is assessed by coursework only and is divided into six units. At the end of the course you are required to submit a portfolio of work on each of the six units.

The first three units are mandatory and consider how science is used in the workplace:

• The Science Technician at Work
• Scientific Principles
• The Science Workplace

The next three units are based in more specialised areas of biology, chemistry and physics.

You will be able to progress from this course on to advanced study or employment if you achieved good grades.
