This is an academic subject, recognised by the universities, designed to attract students with an interest in the theatre, theatre design, costume in theatre, TV and theatre production. The course covers theatrical practitioners, past and present, theatre history and the study of set plays, and the development of a critical analytical approach towards contemporary theatre.
The course is delivered through a practical and analytical approach to theatre and therefore students considering Drama & Theatre Studies should be prepared to be actively engaged in theatre performance work. Students opting for this subject will be expected to attend live theatre performances and analyse both as a group and independently throughout the course. Commitments to rehearsals on Mondays and Thursdays in the Spring term.
Written and practical coursework is assessed and there is a final performance and written examination.
