2 Year Courses - English Literature

AS-level and A-level

For success in English Literature, students must combine a thorough knowledge of the set texts with the ability to present a reasoned and coherent line of thought.

Students will study a range of plays, prose and poetry and will be encouraged to share their ideas about their reading of a text.

Reading widely and an enthusiasm for literature are essential, particularly for the A2 where students who take the coursework module must write an independent comparative essay on two texts of their choice.

Coursework: 40% AS - 40% A2

Examination / Assessment

English Literature is available at both the High School and the College. The College and High School offer a coursework module each year for all students which contributes towards one third of the AS and A-level final grade.
