Geography can be best regarded as a bridge between the arts and the sciences; it aims to develop an understanding of the variable nature of the earth’s physical landscape and the complex nature of our own relationships and interactions with our own environment.
AS Geography Unit 1 – Physical and Human Geography (Rivers, floods and management/ coastal environments/hot desert environments and their margins/ global population change/energy issues/health issues).
AS Geography Unit 2 – Applied Geography (Structured skills and generic fieldwork questions).
A2 Geography Unit 3 – Contemporary Geographical Issues (Plate tectonics, development and globalisation and associated hazards/ world citie - evolution or revolution/ nature of ecosystems, weather, climate and associated hazards, contemporary conflicts and change).
A2 Geography Unit 4B – Geographical Issue Evaluation (Structure short and extended questions based on an Advance Information Booklet).
Coursework – none.
(AS) April 2009 = Day trip to Juniper Hall, Dorking (UHS)
The course is taken in modules with a fieldwork sills exam. There is an optional coursework component in the final assessment.
