These courses offer an opportunity to further develop skills and abilities in the context of Health & Social Care. The aim of both the AS and A2 courses is to develop and sustain pupils interests and knowledge in health, early years care and education, social care and issues affecting the care sector. Pupils will develop skills that will enable them to make an effective contribution to the care sector including skills of research, evaluation and problemsolving in a work-related context. The core units lead to the acquisition of specific inter-personal skills essential to care work; explore the general functioning of the health, social and early years services; and identify potential career pathways.
For the single award pupils complete the core units leading to one AS-level qualification.
For the single award pupils complete the core units leading to one A-level qualification:
*Units is assessed by exam; the others by research projects

AS-level and A-level
Prospective students should have at least five GCSEs at Grade C (including English) or above and an interest in working with people.
