Two pathways are followed. At the Ursuline High School, students study Ethics and Philosophy of Religion. At Wimbledon College, students study 20th Century Christian thought (Feminist, Black and Liberation Theologies) and Philosophy of Religion.
Theology is one of the most broadly based subjects as it encompasses study of the relationship between religious belief and literature, history, philosophy, logic, ethics, art and science. As such it has long been recognised by all good universities as a sound academic discipline which prepares students well for almost all undergraduate programmes. It also has direct relevance to the way in which we live our lives – in moral decision-making, attitudes, spirituality, values and appreciation of the arts. It develops in students critical and analytical minds, which in turn enable them to develop skills for living which should not be underestimated.
