Attendance & Punctuality

Punctuality is taken very seriously.  It is important that staff and students be on time for lessons.  Student lateness will not be tolerated and will be followed up through the student reporting system.

Students who have lessons on a different site Period 2 or 4 are expected to walk over promptly.

Staff will keep a record of punctuality and attendance and follow up if there is any cause for concern.
Students who arrive late to class will not be allowed entry to the lesson.  The lateness will be reported to the Head of Year and the student put on Stage 1 report.

The school (including the Learning Resource Centre) opens at 8.00am. Students must register with their personal tutor at 8.35am daily.

  • Students who arrive after registration at 8.45am should sign in the late book outside the General Office.  Students who fail to do this will be marked absent from school, preventing authorisation of any EMA payment (if eligible).
  • Students then must provide evidence that they attended school on that day or provide a note from home to explain lateness.
  • Any student with 2 lates in one week will receive a 1 hour detention the following Friday. This also applies to students who did not sign in the late book or who leave school without permission.
  • Any student with 3 lates in one week automatically is put on Stage One report.
  • Students must attend all timetabled lessons, including PSHE.

A full record of attendance is kept for legal reasons – this information is used for confidential references and the names of students who miss school or who are absent from lessons will be forwarded to the Head of Key Stage 5.
