Entry Requirements and Options
There are two routes through the Sixth Form.
Which route you take will depend on your achievements in Year 11 and your intentions for education after Sixth Form.
You must meet the entry requirements for the route you wish to follow
To follow the Level 2 intermediate route you must
have -
- Five or more GCSEs at grade C, D or E.
Level 2 Route - intermediate
This is a one year intermediate level course.
Courses will lead to BTEC Level 2 qualifications.
Level 2 route pupils choose from:
- BTEC in Business Studies
- BTEC in Science
- BTEC in Sports Studies
And can also follow courses in:
The Sixth Form no longer offers Level 1 courses
which are suitable for applicants with GCSEs at
grades E, F and G.
To follow the Level 3 Route - advanced, you must have -
- For 4 A-levels OR a double award Applied A-level course plus one A-level - at least eight GCSE passes at grade C or above, including a B in the subject or related subject.
- For 3 A-levels OR a double award Applied A-level course plus one A-level - at least five GCSE passes at grade C or above, including a B in the subject or related subject.
Level 3 Route - advanced
This is a two year (Level 3) course leading to AS Level qualifications at the end of Year 12 and A2 level at the end of Year 13.
Level 3 route pupils choose four AS Levels.
Applied double awards count as two choices.

In Year 13, students continue with three (or sometimes four) subjects to A Level.
The minimum grade required at AS Level to continue in any subject is a grade D.
